A Leaf Blower Has More Uses Than You Think

Monday, March 31st, 2008

By Denton Lesslie They can be used for more than just leaves. I have used mine for so many things. I opted for a gas powered one, over electric, because of the portability. I can run all over the place and not have to worry about wires. They are a little louder and smellier, but the portability our weighs everything. Some uses I have found. Sweeping out the garage. Just blow out the garage as you would the drive way. Fast, simple and usually does better than a broom. It is also much more fun. Clean out dryer vent - We have a long hose that runs from the back of the dryer to the side of the house. It needed cleaning. I just brought the blower inside, moved the dryer and stuck it in the vent. I just turned it on and ran it for a minute and put the dryer back. I went outside to check what had happened. There were lint pieces all over the yard that I had to pick up. Success. Car dryer - After you finish washing your car and it it still wet, just blow off the drips. This will help prevent the water spots. Scaring my daughter - enough said, my wife might read this. Cleaning out the inside of a vehicle - I had some mud, dog hair, and trash inside my truck. Opened both doors and here we go. I was really impressed with the job that it did. I will not say more effective than a vacum cleaner, but the fun factor is much, much higher. De-clumping the grass - if you are like me I usually wait too long to mow the grass. After I get done there are the clumps of grass all over the place. Just blow the clumps and dissipate them over the yard with the blower. Better than raking. Smoke screen - James Bond any one. Just take a handful of baking flour and sprinkle it into the fan part. Viola! Just do not use too much. Oh, I see your wheels turning. There are so many options. Just use your imagination, and make your life easier. Military DUI

Saturday, March 29th, 2008

By Tim H If youre a member of the armed forces facing a Military DUI charge, the process and consequences can be much different than someone who faces a civilian charge. There are some important differences you need to understand when youre dealing with a Military DUI charge. What is intoxicated for a military DUI? For members of the military, a military court can use the states legal blood alcohol limit for a military DUI. However, military courts arent limited to the states legal limit. If your blood alcohol limit is lower than the states legal limit, but the military court feels it was enough to impair your ability to operate a vehicle, you can still be charged with a military DUI. Where will your military DUI be tried? Unlike civilian DUI, a military court will try your military DUI. This means that youll need an attorney that understands military law and military DUI. As in a civilian court, one charged with a military DUI has the right to a defense attorney. Its important that you get an attorney to assist you with the military DUI as quickly as possible. While civilian court proceedings tend to stretch out over a long period of time, military DUI court will move much faster. What type of sentencing applies to military DUI conviction? In a military DUI conviction, there can be a wide variety of punishment. In a civilian trial, a DUI sentence is limited to community service, jail time, fines, loss of license, community service, and DUI programs. These are all limited by state law. In a military DUI case, the sentencing can be quite different. For example, military DUI does not have a maximum legal sentence, so the court will be able to decide the sentence. A military DUI conviction can result in dishonorable discharge, a rank reduction, a pay deduction, loss of security clearance, fines, and imprisonment. At the very least you may receive a formal reprimand for a military DUI. How will a military DUI affect my career? A military DUI can have a serious impact on your military career. Its possible to receive a dishonorable discharge ending your military career permanently. Less severe, but still serious, consequences of a military career include the inability to increase in rank or pay grade. Your military DUI conviction will become part of your permanent military record. In the armed forced, a military DUI is a very serious charge with serious consequences. http://www.duiarresthelp.com provides information and resources for those arrested and/or convicted of drunk driving related offenses. Anniversary Gifts for Him

Wednesday, March 26th, 2008

By Janet Smith Learn how to make sure your anniversary gifts for him are right on target. Celebrating your anniversary with your particular someone is always a special time. You want the anniversary gifts you give to be memorable and just right for him. Because you know him so well, youll immediately know once the gift is opened whether its a hit or a miss. How can you make sure youre right on track with your anniversary gifts? Its not as hard as you may think. Even if youre married to the man that has everything, or to the man that just goes out and buys what he wants, there are still ways to make sure you get just the right anniversary gifts to make him smile and be yours forever. The first step is to concentrate on him. There may be things he really enjoys, yet youre not so keen about. Remember, it is not your gift. If you want him to know that you really are his lifelong friend and companion, theres no better way to show it than by giving him luxurious anniversary gifts centered on his favorite activities or interests. Activities and Anniversary Gifts The key to giving perfect anniversary gifts is to coordinate your gift with his favorite activities. For example if your husband is a grill master giving him a professional barbeque grill tool set or a handle mount grill light would be great anniversary gifts. If hes into the games, take him back in time with classic arcade games designed to fit right in your family room. They look just like the original game boxes found in arcades, and can really be a big hit with your guy. Most men are sports fans of one kind or another. Its always a great idea to give your sports fan anniversary gifts centered on their favorite team or sport. While basketball, football, fishing or golf might not be your thing, it may suit him perfectly. If youre not sure exactly what would suit him, you can always ask one of his sports friends for advice. Other great ideas for anniversary gifts are tools to help with daily activities and demands of work. For example, if your husband drives a lot, consider a Tom-Tom GPS system that will keep him on track no matter where he goes. Or perhaps a back massaging unit for the car. Another great anniversary gift for the man who spends a lot of time on the road is a roadside auto emergency tool kit. Remember the Reasons While in your head these items may not sound romantic or exciting as anniversary gifts, remember, the gift is about what he likes and ways to help him during daily activities. Concentrate on his enjoyment and youre sure to make him very happy on your anniversary. Whatever anniversary gifts you choose remember, that anniversaries are a time to get away from daily life, celebrate and rekindle those feelings you had when you first married. Exhibitions And The Logistics: Getting The Best Value For Your Money

Monday, March 24th, 2008

By Valeria Symonds Organizing to exhibit at an exhibition can be more than simply renting an exhibition stand and then turning up on the day. There are numerous things you need to consider including: - Ensuring that your staff members are well trained and prepared for the show - Your staff have the correct and appropriate uniforms - You have set sales goals for the event - Your stand is in a good spot - The exhibition stand is well designed and appropriate to the specific show - You have invited anyone necessary. You need ALSO to think about things such as design, installation, providing water and flowers on your stand, installing AV systems, installing Plasma screens, internet connections, stand breakdown and storage. Another consideration is storage space for the personal items which belong to your staff. There are in other words, a lot of things to think about if you are to maximise the benefits you seek to gain at an exhibition. Exhibiting is not the cheapest form of marketing but face-to-face marketing at exhibitions, where trade and the public may be present, can be one of the most effective. Getting everything right is thus essential. Even thinking of things such as where the power sockets are located, how many of them are available (very important if you are doing a presentation on your laptop and the laptop battery dies), are important considerations. There are many things to think about and having held a few exhibitions myself, I would be inclined to recommend getting an experienced team to work with. You can do a search on the Internet to find a company who specialise in Exhibition logistics and planning. Clip Display Ltd at clipdisplay.com are one such company UK and Worldwide based. The trick is to be well organized, well prepared and to plan well enough in advance. If you so choose, you may also want to rid yourself of the stress involved with the logistics of setting up your exhibition stand, you can then put more effort into the main purpose of exhibiting; and focus on sales and on the direct marketing sales opportunities. Using Homeopathy to Control Asthma

Saturday, March 22nd, 2008

By Philip Nicosia Asthma is a chronic condition that affects millions of people all over the world. Studies show that 1 in 7 children, and 1 in 12 adults, suffer from asthma. Thought the severity of the attacks can varyit can be mild and easily treated, or lead to weeks of hospitalizationanyone who suffers from the condition can testify to how it can impair their quality of life. In an asthma attack, our ability to breathe in air is hampered, due to the tightening of muscles in the air passage, swelling, and thick mucus. The attacks are triggered by pollen, smoke, even food allergies (each person has its own set of asthma triggers) and are characterized by wheezing, coughing and tightness in the chest. Many asthma sufferers have found relief in herbs and other homeopathic treatments. For example, khella (also called Bishops Weed) helps prevent the tightening of the air passages, and there are cases of it actually opening the airways. However, dosages have to be controlled by a homeopathic expert, especially for children. The herb is best used over a short period of time, since overextended intake can lead to loss of appetite, headaches, and difficulty sleeping. Another asthma treatment makes use of the ancient Chinese herb, Ma Huang (also called Desert Herb). While not recommended for those who have heart disease and high blood pressure, it has been known to reduce the bronchospasms that cause difficulty in breathing. Because of the risks associated with his herb, it should be taken only with the directions of a homeopathic expert, and the approval and co-management of your regular physician or respiratory specialist. This is because Ma Huang has some contraindications, and interactions with other prescribed drugs can be dangerous. However, with the proper monitoring and in the right doses, it can help with the most severe forms of asthma attacks. Like with many asthma medications, people who take Ma Huang can experience side effects like palpitations and restlessness, or mild nausea to actual vomiting. This is, unfortunately, a function of how medicines (whether traditional antibiotics or herbal) must contain some amount of ephredine or a similar drug that can counter or protect the bodys loss of oxygen. Another herb that can control asthma is the Pleurisy root, a liquid extract of the plant Asclepias Tuberosa. It is an expectorant and can help decongest the patient and ease the difficulty in breathing. Doses must be closely monitored, however, because it can lead to vomiting if not properly prescribed. It is also not recommended for those who have heart problems. Homeopathic experts can also help asthma sufferers examine diet and lifestyle for any asthma triggers, or sometimes they will prescribe vitamins and herbs, or recommend a particular diet, that can help strengthen the lungs. In other words, their approach is holistic, and does not only cure the symptoms but prevents the attacks from occurring. Many asthma sufferers can lead perfectly normal lives as long as they can create a lifestyle or routine that minimizes their risks for attacks. Rock Gardening - An Expressive Medium That You Can Use To Create Enjoyment For Years

Saturday, March 22nd, 2008

By Dan Edwards Rock gardening is a great way for you to express your artistic side while using your gardening skills and an alternative medium as well. There are plenty of creative choices for the rock garden enthusiast. The Japanese Zen garden is my favorite but you can be just as happy building the most common form, the basic rock garden. Since Japanese Zen gardens are rockier and less plant-filled, if youre going to put together a basic rock garden with more plants and flowers, there are some things that you should think about. If youre working in an area that is already quite rocky it will be much easier to start your garden. However, youll still need to plan well to make the picturesque garden you desire. Starting at the most troublesome spot (every garden has one!) is a way to relieve long run frustration. Build or use an existing slope where theres plenty of sunshine. Obviously the easiest rocks to use are the ones already in your garden or around your house. However, dont worrymost gardening supply store have plenty that you can purchase. For aesthetic purposes, your plants and rocks should follow a color scheme. Make sure that the design has a natural look and feel to it. And when choosing your plants, use ones that wont need lots of water since the water will drain through the rocks. Once youve picked your rocks and plants the plant spacing, elevation, slope, and design should reflect your artistic traits. It should only take a day or two to build the rock garden of your dreams. And days, months, or years for you to enjoy it! Dan Edwards is an avid gardener, writer, hobby, health, and internet enthusiast, as well as a student of life. He documents subjects that interest him. Traditional Handprint Crafts

Thursday, March 20th, 2008

By Katrina Harper Sensational New Handprint Crafts are Safer and Take Less Time to Complete than Ever Before. Traditional handprint crafts are a fun way to preserve memories of your baby. All you need to make traditional handprint crafts are some easily available craft items and loads of imagination. Crafters have used these methods and variations of them for centuries. You can put your ’s handprints on ceramic tiles, clay, fabric or paper. You can use colored paper to make traditional handprint crafts. For this you need paper plates or bright yellow and orange colored paper, scissors, gum, markers and wobbly eyes or nose if you so desire. Cut out the inner circle for the sun and trace the ’s hands on to the colored paper for the rays of sunshine. Trace the handprints a number of times on the yellow and orange paper, cut them out, and then stick them alternately on to the inner circle. Make a face with the marker, stick the eyes, and nose to complete the face of Mr. Sunshine. To Make traditional handprint crafts on ceramic tiles, you need an unglazed tile of 4″ or 6″ depending on the size of the hand, a soft brush, a pot of ceramic under glaze in a dark color, a container of clear glaze, sponge, and tissues to clear the mess. You can get all these materials at your local hobby center and order the tiles beforehand, as they may not be available singly. Clean the tile with a wet sponge and wash the ’s hands with soap and dry well. Paint a single coat of glaze across the palm and keep the fingers apart so that the fingerprints appear on the tile. Ensure that the hands are steady and then gently press the palm and fingers for the full hand impression. To commemorate this event, paint your ’s name and date of birth alongside the handprint. Next, you must let the tile dry and then fire it before you put a coat of clear glaze. Your traditional handprint crafts are now ready for display. Other traditional handprint crafts include casting the ’s handprint in plaster. For this smear, some oil on the ’s hand so that the plaster does not stick to the skin. Next, put the hand in the plaster in a container or a tray and press it gently so that the full imprint appears. Remove the hand and clean it thoroughly of plaster. You can carve in the ’s name and birth date in the wet plaster before it sets. Use your creativity to beautify the traditional handprint crafts with accessories. You can insert a straw in the wet plaster so that you can insert a ribbon and create a wall hanging out of your ’s handprints. Once the plaster sets remove it from the container and it is ready to put on show. Traditional handprint crafts can add a twist to your Halloween decorations. You can trace out the handprints on green paper and cut them out. Make them more frightful by adding pointy fingernails or a blood trail. Stick them behind doors to scare your friends. You can use other variations of this idea by using glitter and other dreadful colors. Thus, traditional handprint crafts can make a great memento for your child when he grows up. Christian Guide to Witnessing in the Name of Jesus Christ

Monday, March 17th, 2008

By Lance Winslow Often Christians will witness to others to get them to join a Church or accept Jesus Christ as their personal savior. What they may not realize is if they do not do it just right they are doing the opposite of their mission. In other words they end up turning off the target, rather than converting them to God. Some mistakes they will often make is assuming the person they are talking to is weak like them or has had such a miserable and pathetic life like they have? Or that the person they are trying to convert has an addiction problem of some type? Personally having been witnessed too about once a week while minding my own business, someone just has to come tell me about their God and their life story of how they found God and it changed their life. That is great, yet what they so often do is start telling me how they were abused as a child, were an alcoholic, did drugs, had a divorce or did some other hideous thing to another. What always turns me off is that I have no sympathy for losers and I am glad they found their invisible friend to help them cope. Surely being psychotic, schizophrenic or having an invisible friend does not impress me, it scares me and considering these pathetic, loser and addiction issues, I do not wish to have them as friends or to be involved in anything they are. I am totally turned off. So if you go around preaching to people, telling them of your pathetic past or your invisible friend be careful how you do it. It is a huge turn off and you make yourself look like a complete fool, lacking personal character and are often perceived as a mental case. Think on this and keep your religion to yourself. “Lance Winslow” - Online Think Tank forum board. Personal Finance - Three Quick & Simple Ways to Improve Your Personal Finances

Saturday, March 15th, 2008

By Joel Teo Many Americans and people in countries where ready credit is available find themselves in greater debt then ever before and this makes you wonder whether you are working for yourself or for your creditors. This ends up being a problem of financial spending & control and if you take a short moment to reconsider your own financial health, you might be able to correct your financial situation today. You will find that many people today are living from paycheck to paycheck and running from payday loan provider to another. This article suggests three simple & quick ways to improve your personal finances. Firstly, you might want to draw up a Cash flow statement for yourself. This is quite simple to do actually. Just take a blank sheet of paper and draw a line in the middle and consider how much money you are earning each month and list all the sources on the left and total it up at the bottom. Next on the right column figure out how much money you are spending each month, including how much interest and debt you need to repay. Take your credit card statements out and use it to work through this section. Once you figure this out, then you will be better able to manage your own finances or at least have a better idea about your spending habits. Secondly, budget to save before you spend. This idea is taken from many millionaires who recommend that you use auto-transfer each month a sum of your money and either save it or invest it into some thing like real estate. My personal favourite idea is to take a sum of money each month and use it to purchase my favourite Exchange Traded Fund which works like a mutual fund only that it just buys up the entire index of stocks. This way you do not need to work about over performing or underperforming the market and the management fees for these funds are really low. Finally, now that you know how much money you have left to spend each month, budget how much you want to spend each month. As terrible as it may seem, try to pay for things with cash and with a debt card so that you are kept in touch with how much you are actually spending. Its so easy to flash a credit card and then lose sense of reality and you only get hit with it at the end of the month when the bill arrives. So try to remind yourself constantly about the need to avoid spending exuberance. In conclusion, doing a simple cash flow statement ever so often helps to keep yourself reminded of how your spending and investing patterns are each month. Budgeting to save before you spend will ensure that you will retire quite well off and budgeting before you spend will help you figure out how you want to use your available funds each month. Remember that the more credit you use on consumer products which drop in value really fast, the most the credit card companies are going to make from you and the less you will have to spend in the longer term. Take control of your finances today and you will find your life starting to look brighter and happier. Copyright 2006 Joel Teo. All rights reserved. Prepaid Cell Phones

Wednesday, March 12th, 2008

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Marcus_Peterson]Marcus Peterson Cellular phones have become a necessity in this fast-paced world. They allow on-the-go people to be connected and reachable. There was a time that only those who had a steady source of high income could afford cellular phones. Children having cellular phones was unthinkable. Yet things do change. These days, the services that cellular phone service providers offer vary. Although there are still those who prefer the security of a post paid cellular phone subscription, a lot have also patronized prepaid cell phones. Prepaid cell phones offer pay-as-you-go policies that do not entail signing contracts with the service provider. Prepaid cell phones offer almost the same services as monthly accounts. Consumers do not need to be tied down to a given carrier. The policy also allows consumers to control their bills based on their budget and usage. Prepaid Cell Phones and You: Why They Work Do you rarely use your cell phone? Do you usually limit your cell phone usage and really just need a phone strictly for emergencies? Are you a parent who wants to budget the way your children use their cell phones? Do you have issues about signing contracts and being tied to a particular service company? Do you have credit issues? If you answer yes to most, if not all these questions, then prepaid cell phones might just be the answer you are looking for in terms of cell phone use. Since prepaid cell phones are prepaid, there are no monthly bills to worry about. Also, getting one does not require all the hassles that are required when applying for a post-paid plan. You only pay for the services which you use monthly and nothing more. Prepaid cell phone plans also include the same services as post-paid plans offer such as local and long distance calls, roaming and international call capabilities, caller ID, voice mail, call waiting, three-way calling and even text messaging. The Cons of Prepaid Cell Phones The services that prepaid cell phone credits can expire, depending on how long you hold on to the credits without using them. Cheaper credits expire sooner than more expensive credits. You automatically lose your credits if unused within the specified period. Also at 2530 cents a minute, they cost more per call than calls placed using most monthly billing plans.
